Carl Sapers
Carl Sapers specializes in design and construction law.
Carl is widely regarded as the dean of design and construction law. He was a long-time partner in the Boston law firm Hill & Barlow. His clients included the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards and more than 100 architecture and engineering firms.
Carl served as general counsel to the American Institute of Architects, of which he is an honorary member. In 1975, he was awarded the Allied Professions Medal of the AIA.
From 1993 to 1994, he was president of the American College of Construction Lawyers. The American Arbitration Association awarded him the Whitney North Seymour Medal in 1991. In addition to other public service activities, he was moderator of the Town of Brookline for nine years.
He is the author of numerous publications, including chapters in several books on legal aspects of the construction process.
He graduated from Harvard College in 1953 and from Harvard Law School in 1958.
